Persian Antique Prayer Box Pendant

This stunning pendant is an antique Persian prayer box, featuring inscribed tassels with a carnelian bead center piece.
The inscriptions are a mix of Persian and Arabic numbers. Like a cypher, the message was known to the wearer as the numbers can stand in for letters. This was a meaningful way for the wearer to keep those near and dear to their heart, safe in prayer.
The prayer box is sealed and we made no attempt to open it. The box itself features a delicate central turquoise bead.
Circa: late 1800s, Ottoman Empire era but the numerals pinpoint it to Persian lands in the empire.
Measuring 36 inches in length; a drop of over 18 inches with the pendant adding 3 inches. Falls mid chest.
