Victorian Sterling Niello Buckle Brooch

This delicate and ornate brooch is made of sterling silver; a kind of sterling called niello which gives it a black tone and tarnish rather than the bright high polish silver. The niello sterling ages with my drama and depth as it ages. Can easily be converted into a pendant. 

Made in Birmingham, England, hallmarked with the Birmingham mark; the year 1891; the sterling silver mark; and the maker mark: Payton & Pepper, Co. 

Measures 1.75 inches long, .5 inch wide
